Gyeonggi Gwangmyeong Regional Self-Sufficiency Center recently hosted a special seminar for participants in its self-sufficiency work program under the theme “Preparing for Successful Employment.”
The seminar was led by Hwang Keumvit, CEO of Hwang Keumvit Education Consulting Co., Ltd., and was designed to support low-income residents who face challenges in accessing stable employment opportunities.
The program was conducted in two sessions as part of a preparation process for participants seeking a second career and greater self-reliance.
Main Topics
The seminar covered practical and career-focused content, including:
- Government-supported employment support programs for middle-aged job seekers
- Career exploration based on interests and aptitude using the Holland assessment
- Resume writing
- Interview training
Key Message from Hwang Keumvit
Hwang Keumvit emphasized that, as societies around the world enter an era of rapid aging, employment and job creation for middle-aged and older adults have become increasingly urgent and important.
He noted that while the government offers a variety of employment, entrepreneurship, and vocational training programs, many middle-aged individuals remain unaware of these opportunities due to limited access to information compared to younger generations.
He also shared that, as promotion and participation increasingly rely on online platforms, older adults and socially vulnerable groups may face greater barriers in accessing and understanding available services. For this reason, he aims to use each training session as an opportunity to deliver practical, useful, and accessible information as effectively as possible.
Participant Feedback
Participants expressed positive feedback following the seminar.
One attendee shared that after completing self-sufficiency work programs, many participants feel anxious about the next step because the barriers to employment or entrepreneurship can be even higher than for the general middle-aged population. They noted that the seminar clearly explained useful systems and resources, providing motivation and encouragement for greater independence.
