Growing Through Learning: Women’s Reemployment and Entrepreneurship in Korea

SEOUL, South Korea — As workforce participation and economic inclusion become key priorities, education programs supporting women’s reemployment and entrepreneurship are playing an increasingly important role in Korea’s social and economic landscape.

For many women, barriers such as career interruptions, limited access to information, and structural constraints make reentering the workforce a significant challenge. Addressing these issues requires practical, skills-based education that enables individuals to rebuild confidence and pursue independent career paths.

Creating Pathways for Women to Restart Their Careers

K-MIRACLE Co., Ltd. (formerly Hera World), in collaboration with Korea Polytechnics Incheon Campus, participated in a government-funded training program designed to support women’s reemployment and entrepreneurship.

The program, fully funded by public resources, focused on hands-on training for launching AI-driven online shopping businesses. K-MIRACLE was actively involved in curriculum design, program management, participant selection, and the development of practical training materials.

Participants included not only women with career interruptions, but also multicultural and migrant women with Korean language proficiency—reflecting a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

Practical, Experience-Based Learning

Conducted over approximately two months, the program operated with limited enrollment and reached full capacity. Rather than focusing on theoretical instruction, the curriculum emphasized real-world application—teaching participants how to start and manage online businesses in practical terms.

Through the program, participants gained a clearer understanding of business operations, from planning and setup to execution and management. Many began to view entrepreneurship and reemployment not as distant goals, but as realistic and achievable opportunities.

Building Confidence and Ownership

While participants developed technical skills, the most notable transformation was seen in their mindset and confidence.

Initially hesitant, many participants gradually became more engaged—asking questions, sharing experiences, and actively planning their next steps. The experience of taking on new challenges fostered a sense of ownership and empowerment, enabling participants to approach their careers with greater confidence.

Participant satisfaction was high, with many continuing to explore pathways toward entrepreneurship or reemployment after completing the program.

Toward Sustainable and Inclusive Growth

Programs like this highlight the importance of continuous, practice-oriented education in supporting women’s economic participation. Experts emphasize that such initiatives should not be viewed as one-time support, but as part of a broader system enabling individuals to redefine their career paths and life trajectories.

By aligning education with real-world needs and opportunities, these programs contribute not only to individual growth but also to broader social and economic sustainability.
